Helicopter crash victims' names released, remain critical

Township police have identified the two people injured in Wednesday’s helicopter crash as pilot Edwin Eilbacher, 27, of Hillsborough and photographer Julia Armstrong-Robertson, 44, of Newark, Del.

Both were listed in critical condition in the surgical intensive care unit at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick late Thursday afternoon.

The accident was reported to South Brunswick Police Department by numerous 911 calls at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. The crash was approximately 100 feet behind the Indian Fields Elementary School on the property of Medicia Pharmaceuticals. Witnesses described the helicopter circling the area once prior to crashing.

The Monmouth Junction Fire Department, South Brunswick EMS paramedics, Middlesex County Hazmat and New Jersey State Police Medevac responded to the crash. The accident is under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board after initially being handled by the Federal Aviation Administration.

The helicopter was owned by Nassau Helicopters out of Princeton Airport in Montgomery. It was hired by Armstrong-Robertson for a photo shoot over the Dayton section of South Brunswick. Armstrong-Robertson owns Aero-Imaging Inc. (www.aeroimaginginc.com) out of Delaware. She is a freelance photographer for the Associated Press and Gannett newspapers.

When the helicopter hit the ground in an open field behind the school, workers who were tarring the school’s roof rushed to help and pulled the occupants from the craft, fearing an explosion if there was spilled fuel. Armstrong-Robertson was taken by State Police Medevac helicopter to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. The pilot was transported there by South Brunswick EMS.

There were no injuries to anyone on the ground and the school had no students in it at the time of the crash.

Google doodle goes mobile for Alexander Calder's 113th birthday

A piece of kinetic art took the place of the usual Google logo to celebrate the 113th birthday of American artist and sculptor Alexander Calder.

Friday’s Google doodle shows a mobile, a type of kinetic sculpture that was invented by Alexander Calder. Mobiles take advantage of the principle of equilibrium and have objects hanging from rods. Kinetic art uses motion for an artistic effect.

Mobiles are usually brightly coloured free-moving creations in abstract shapes made from sheet metal. The mobile Google doodle sways on its own and can also be controlled by mouse gestures.

Calder was born on July 22, 1898 in Lawnton, US to a family of artists. While his father and grandfather were both sculptors, his mother was a painter.

He graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering from the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey, in 1919. He then took art lessons. After a brief career in commercial art, Calder moved to Paris and put up an exhibition of a miniature circus with toy-like animals made of wood and wire. In Paris he formed associations with renowned artists and their influence helped him shape his art.

Calder was also a jewellery designer, an interest that developed when he was fashioning a wedding ring for his marriage with Louisa Cushing James. Besides his sculptures, Calder also illustrated a number of books. Besides mobiles, he also earned a name with stabiles, a type of stationary abstract sculptures.

With the years Calder also scaled up the size of his mobile and stabile installations. Calder died at the age of 78 on November 11, 1976. Two months after his death, Calder was honoured with United States' highest civilian honour, the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Interactive and animated Google doodles have now become a regular feature on the Google home page. The last such doodle was during the total lunar eclipse of June 15-16 when Google put up its first live doodle that refreshed itself every two minutes to reflect the stage of the moon.

For a dozen years, Google has been occasionally swapping its everyday logo for a doodle, a sketch celebrating holidays, inventions, artists and sporting events, and showcasing designs from contest-winning students.

Shannen Doherty's relationship gets a reality show

Shannen Doherty's relationship
The preparation for Shannen Doherty's impending wedding to celebrity photographer Kurt Iswarienko will play out for everyone to see, now that the 40-year-old former "Charmed" star has landed a reality show on WEtv.

Currently titled "The Shannen Doherty Project," the eight-part unscripted series will show the "complicated and often hilarious" antics of the engaged couple as they try to mesh their lives together, according to a statement from the network.

The hour-long episodes will follow Doherty gearing up for her wedding, some sort of "house tragedy" that has legal implications, and, of course, what's up next for Doherty's acting career.

“This is an opportunity for audiences to get a rare sneak peek into the real Shannen, who has been notorious about guarding her private life," says WE's Senior VP of Original Programming and Development John Miller. "Her situations are familiar and [that's] what will make this series stand apart from other celeb-reality shows."

Judge that for yourself when it airs next year. Production on "The Shannen Doherty Project" is scheduled to begin in August.

Star Wars: The Old Republic collectors edition revealed [update]

The Old Republic
Being the time for all things collectible, we wouldn't be surprised if an official announcement of the Star Wars: The Old Republic collectors edition were to be issued this week during Comic-Con -- but there's no need to wait for such an announcement. GameStop has listed the $150 collectors edition now, with perfectly official-looking art and a description of the contents.

According to GameStop, your investment into the fancier edition of BioWare's MMO will get you a "Gentle Giant Darth Malgus statue," a metal case, "The Journal of Master Gnost-Dural," a map, a soundtrack, and seven in-game items -- including an exclusive CE-only in-game store.

In addition, GameStop bonuses include a "color stone" to change your lightsaber's color (also found in a Polish retailer's recent listing) and early access! That's a pretty significant bonus -- not that we know when the release date is yet, much less the early access period.

Update: Well, that didn't take long. It's official, and available for pre-order now -- and, in addition to this version, there's also an Origin-exclusive "Digital Deluxe Edition" with all the in-game extras, 30 days of game time, and none of the tangible extras.

This is more of a story, what I'm talking about. In fact, I'm sure that when people are down South to see my take SINGHAM, they would have to admit that he is a completely different story to it, especially in the second half Who knows, maybe they want to do SINGHAM -. Part 2, and the rights of his film "Rohit chuckled before signing.
